Tots: Our Tots class is perfect for beginning skaters between ages 2-4! This class is focused on helping skaters become comfortable on the ice through a variety of games and activities.
Snowplow Sam: Introductory classes are divided into 4 progressive levels allowing children with no prior skating experience to build confidence and have fun while learning the basic skills of skating! Perfect for skaters ages 3-6 years.
Basic Skills: Teaches the FUNdamentals of ice skating and provides the best foundation for figure skating through 7 progressive levels that prepare skaters to reach their goals in this sport; whether they be recreational or competitive in nature. Perfect for skaters ages 7-13 years.
Pre-Free Skate - Free Skate: Each Free Skate level is composed of a variety of progressive skating skills, transitions, spins, and jumps — all of which build on the previous skill, providing skaters a strong foundation of all elements. Skaters must have passed Basic Skills 6 before enrolling.
Teens & Adults (on-ice): This curriculum is designed for both beginning and experienced adult and teen skaters who wish to learn to skate for the first time or improve their skating skills. Best for skaters ages 14 years and up.
Teens & Adults (off-ice): The teen/adult off-ice class will help skaters build stability, balance, flexibility, and strength off the ice, ultimately strengthening their on-ice skills. This class will also introduce teen/adult skaters to the basic jumps and spins.
Aspire: Is your skater ready to take the next step in their figure skating journey? Aspire is a program designed for skaters in levels Basic Skills 4 to Free Skate 3 that combines off-ice conditioning and on-ice instruction to promote figure skating advancement and introduce skaters to all the pathways Sioux Falls Figure Skating Club has to offer. Head over to the Aspire page on our website to register or learn more! sffsc.com/programs/aspire
Adaptive Skating Program: The Adaptive Skating Program is designed to guide skaters with physical disabilities to develop skating skills. The program encourages skaters to begin and continue to develop skating skills progressively with the intention of maintaining recreational participation and competitive development. Skaters completing the Adaptive Skating curriculum may complete skills assisted or unassisted. The term “assisted” refers to the skater performing skills with the aid of another person. If skaters use an assistive device without a person, they are unassisted.
Intro to Competing: Join our intro to competing class to learn more about artistry, choreography, and competing. Participants will learn a program with elements from their level that could be used at a competition, but learning about choreography and artistry is beneficial for skaters who do not wish to compete as well. Registration for the class does not include competition entrance fees. The class instructor will provide information for parents to register for competitions should they wish to do so. Competition participation is not required for class participation.
