UNITED WAY
SFFSC is excited to partner with the United Way – Connecting Kids program as a way to bring the joy of ice skating to all walks of life!
Local studies show that cost and lack of awareness are reasons some children are not able to join the numerous activities available to them across the Sioux Empire. Connecting Kids ensures every child in Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha and Turner Counties have the same opportunity for getting involved in extracurricular activities.
- The program serves children in grades K-8.
- For Kindergarteners: The child must have begun their Kindergarten year at the time of the activity. If the registration is due before this, that is fine.
- Each child is permitted to use only one certificate per calendar year for one activity.
- All children in households currently receiving benefits from the following programs are eligible:
- SNAP
- The Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)
- TANF
- Free or Reduced Meals
- Families who fall below the Federal Eligibility guidelines for Reduced Meals OR have recently experienced financial difficulties may also be eligible. Supporting Documentation will be requested after your initial application is received.
After your application is received, SFFSC will follow up with the United Way to determine your eligibility. Please allow 3-5 business days for processing. Once a determination has been reached, SFFSC Administration will reach out to you to go over registration instructions.
If approved, SFFSC will lower the Learn to Skate class registration fee to $100.00. This way the United Way voucher will cover all of your class registration fees.
You will still be responsible for the $35.00 Learn to Skate SFFSC Membership fee.
